Design Assistance
You might say that we have
never built two log homes that are exactly alike. And that is the way we like
it. No two people are the same and no two homes should be either. The process of
selecting and designing a home is different for everyone. Some people can find
the perfect plan among the wonderful variety of designs in the Real Log Homes
Planbook. Others will describe to us their ideal home and we will present them
choices from our hundreds of custom plans on file. Still others will come to us
with a custom plan. We will then work closely with them to turn their ideas into
a precision milled Real Log Home. In any case, our job is to take the time to
help you select and design the home that is perfect for you. You should expect
nothing less.
Estimating
While helping you through
the log home design phase, we will be presenting cost estimates for the
constructed shell with labor provided by our own building crew. As changes are
made, we will show you how your changes affect the cost of the home. We can very
accurately estimate the cost to build a “weather-tight” shell on your
foundation, anywhere in New England. Costs to prepare the site, pour the
foundation and finish the inside are determined using local subcontractors.
One decision you should make early on is whether to be your own general
contractor or to hire a local general contractor. Should you choose to be your
own general, it will be your responsibility to obtain estimates, and screen and
hire all of the tradesmen that work on your home. If instead you decide to hire
a general contractor, he will provide you with a complete home estimate using
his own subcontractors. There are pros and cons to both approaches that we can
discuss with you.
Financing
With log home popularity
at an all time high, obtaining financing for your log home construction is now
easier than ever. Over the years we have developed relationships with several
finance companies offering loan programs tailored to log home building. We will
gladly share this information with you and direct you to the lender with the
best program for your situation.
